Even the 1995 New Testament is based on the traditional Textus Receptus despite the fact that the United Bible Societies use modern critical Greek texts as the basis for other translations. The principle behind these revisions has been to remain as close to the original Reina–Valera as possible without causing confusion or misunderstanding. Modern editions often omit the Apocrypha. The British and Foreign Bible Society, the American Bible Society and the United Bible Societies published a total of fifteen revisions between 18 of which those of 1909, 19 are the most significant today and remain in print and a further revision appeared in 2011. For a time, it was known simply by de Valera's name. Among the reasons for the revision was the fact that in the intervening period words had changed their meanings or gone out of use. In 1602 Cipriano de Valera, a student of de Reina, published a revision of the Biblia del Oso which was printed in Amsterdam in which the deuterocanonical books were placed in a section between the Old and New Testaments called the Apocrypha. The 1569 version included the deuterocanonical books within the Old Testament and the 1602 version included the deuterocanonical books sandwiched between the Old and New Testaments. For the New Testament, he was greatly aided by the translations of Francisco de Enzinas and Juan Pérez de Pineda. As secondary sources, de Reina used the Ferrara Bible for the Old Testament and the Latin Edition of Santes Pagnino throughout. The translation was based on the Hebrew Masoretic Text (Bomberg's Edition, 1525) and the Greek Textus Receptus (Stephanus' Edition, 1550). It was first published on September 28, 1569, in Basel, Switzerland. (Earlier translations, such as the 13th-century Alfonsina Bible, translated from Jerome's Vulgate, had been copied by hand.) Jerome, and later an independent Lutheran theologian, with the help of several collaborators produced the Biblia del Oso, the first complete Bible printed in Spanish. Regardless, there is still a risk whenever you install an app outside of Google Play. After all, Google obtains a big chunk of commissions and other expenses, partially because of its dominance in the operating system. Another common reason is that the developer saves money using third-party app stores. One reason to use a third-party app store in Android is that certain apps do not comply with Google Play’s terms and requirements, but that does not mean that they are risky or dangerous. Why would you want to install apps outside of the Play Store? We’ve included this section to review some of the more frequently asked questions. Especially when it comes to installing applications. The Android operating system has a lot of functionality. Then, you will find the application in your app drawer. To download the apps, simply locate the one that you want and tap the download icon. Regardless, you may not have a choice if you are looking for an app that is not available on the Play Store. Google Play Store is still the most reliable way to get your apps, but it is not bulletproof when it comes to security. In closing, the potential risks of installing third-party applications are why Android does not allow you to download files from unknown sources by default. If you use one, be sure to exclude your download folder or APKs in general. NOTE: Android cleaning apps may delete APK files by default to save space.

It works alright, but the delay after dragging makes it hard to get the camera pointed where you want. Alternatively, there's a trackpad-like interface for moving the camera. The camera stitches together a panoramic photo, and then you tap on different areas to rotate the camera there. The only place this functionality is supported is in the pan interface. Not all cameras support this, but I certainly appreciate those that do.ĭespite having a full 360-degree view of the room, you can't just take a 360-degree photo (as far as I can tell). Next to the power jack is a microSD card slot, which can be used to record all your video locally. There's also no battery like you'd find in more expensive cameras. So, you'll have to run a new cable if you're replacing another camera with the Mini 360 Plus. It's a USB-A at the wall adapter end, but the other end is a DC jack. Most cameras have moved to a microUSB cable for power, but the Mini 360 Plus has a rather weird cable. I'm not overly pleased with the power cable, though. The setup process for the camera is one of the quickest I've seen, with only a few weird moments. It looks slick. The top half of the camera is the part that rotates to give you a view of the room. The housing has a two-tone color scheme-the top half with the lens is black, and the bottom is white. That means placing it on a wall is not recommended. The video output can be flipped 180-degrees to compensate, but there's no other rotation option. You can also mount it to the ceiling via an included bracket. It's a small globe about 4-inches across with a flat bottom so it can remain stable on a table or shelf. One of my favorite things about the Mini 360 Plus is the design. I can forgive some of that because the Mini 360 Plus also happens to be a cute little device. However, it lacks some of the features you get with more expensive cameras, and the image quality is just okay. The Mini 360 Plus is a touch cheaper than many home security cameras, and the design is cool. It's a low-cost camera that can rotate to get a full 360-degree view of the room. Lately, I've been using the EZVIZ Mini 360 Plus, which is very similar to the Yi 360. I tested the Yi Dome Camera a few months ago and found it to be overall pretty neat, but perhaps a little gimmicky. These small motorized units might be a preferable option, depending on what you need to keep an eye on. Everyone and their mother seems to be making a stationary home security camera these days, but there are also an increasing number of 360-degree cameras. Vector Unit was founded in December 2007 by Ralf Knoesel and Matt Small with a team comprising of just 4 members including themselves. Overall, whilst a fun game in its own right, there are certainly better racers.Beach Buggy Racing is a kart racing car combat game available for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. And yes there are some inconsistencies with the AI, but actually I draw this up to the fact the no two racers are the same. Many instances come to mind where I clipped a breakable wall, hit a ‘tabletop’ stunt and landed just fine, but a standard jump into calm water has thrown me off me vehicle.Īnd it is these kinds of inconsistencies that hamper an otherwise solid and enjoyable arcade racer. Riptide has an arcade appearance and style, it however relies too heavily on physics that cannot decide if they are realistic or not. The way you get back at this guy…? You take up illegal racing to prove your skill until you can race competitively and challenge the main villain in a final showdown.Īfter all that, the question remains, is Riptide any good? Overall Basically you star as a racer, tricked into an illegal race by the king of obvious villains, and have to win your right to claim back that number one spot taken from you. Oh right, yeah, this game is story driven. Which is a nice lead in to the features of the game that are supposed to be features.įor example, each level is broken up into several stages, and much like many mobile phone games, progress is locked behind a minimum completion wall, and whilst this never seems to be beyond the player, it does help the game in its idea of pacing the story. The funny part of this was that I found this consistently, the yo-yo physics and the yo-yo difficulty kind of became a feature. It was so glaring that I checked I hadn’t somehow activated some sort of uber-easy mode. My first efforts were losing efforts, which is fine as I expected to struggle whilst getting to grips with the new game, but then suddenly, after scraping third and being unable to advance to the next event, I destroyed the AI. The difficulty of this game yo-yos much more frantically then the difficult on any other driving game I have experienced. This led to me losing the race… which brings me to my next inconsistency. Yet a similar jump might lead to you being bounced off of the vehicle, despite a clean landing I was tossed of the boat off a simple jump, even without trying a skill. In one instance a jump will be landed, smoothly, effectively. That said you could call these things part of the difficulty arc. It is something I had real difficulty judging, and is the first of many inconsistencies I found in my time of playing the game. The first thing I have to complain about for this game is the inconsistent behaviour of the games physics. The thumbsticks can be flicked for tricks, but pulling these off can be tricky. The game is beautifully realised, the water is glistening and the courses show deep consideration and character, giving the player a real glance into the world the game is based in.ĭestructible barriers and jumps are highlighted for the racers and make pulling inline for tricks to build up of boost power all the more enjoyable. Sounds easy right, well I’ll get to that.įirst I wanted to take a small section of this review to touch on the controls and appearance. So in terms of what it is, it is quite easy to describe Riptide – it is a racing arcade sim, where the player races of what is effectively a jet ski, doing stunts to earn boosts and win. Where does Riptide GP Renegade (henceforth Riptide) fit in, in the pantheon of racers? Well I share my thoughts on it below for you if you want to have a look at this very fun arcade racer, that maybe goes to heavy on the physics.Īs ever, get commenting on my review at the end using the Disqus Comments and support these smaller developers by Sharing this review on social media. Everything or Nothing, with its A-list cast, epic story, and excellent set-pieces, makes far more effective use of the license. GoldenEye 007 may be more influential, but it lacks many of the components that make a good James Bond story and experience. On their own they're neat callbacks, but it's also illustrative of how Everything or Nothing got the most out of the Bond license.Īll of this comes together to make James Bond 007: Everything or Nothingthe most authentic James Bond video game. The game also includes two fun callbacks to the Roger Moore Bond films, featuring the return of Richard Kiel as Jaws, and revealing how Diavolo was mentored by A View to a Kill's Max Zorin. Everything or Nothing instead offers a much more rounded depiction of Bond, complete with a unique story for players to sink their teeth into that sees 007 in a globe-trotting race to stop Willem Dafoe's Nikolai Diavolo from unleashing a deadly swarm of nanobots against Russia. That's not to deny GoldenEye 007's timeless qualities, but it can also get repetitive. GoldenEye 007, by comparison, only allows players to fulfill one aspect of the Bond fantasy: that of mercilessly gunning down dozens of anonymous henchmen with a wide array of weaponry. Both could perhaps have found time for quieter moments of espionage, emulating how Bond often hides in plain sight in the films, but that's a relatively small complaint given they both deliver when it comes to action, stealth, and vehicle chases. Both are cinematic and feature the best bits of Bond in their gameplay, including multiple gadgets, iconic vehicles, and sneaky stealth sections. Both it and 2005's From Russia with Love illustrate why the third-person James Bond video games are better than the first-person ones. The rest were all original stories, and while neither Agent Under Fire nor Nightfire were as good as GoldenEye 007, the fact EA didn't opt for a simple tie-in in both cases is commendable.Įverything or Nothing, though, is superior to the original GoldenEye 007. GoldenEye 007 is one such game that featured the actor's incarnation of Bond, but despite its qualities, it was still just a movie tie-in. This was something EA avoided during the publisher's time with the Bond license, releasing only two titles directly inspired by specific Bond movies. That said, Brosnan's incarnation of James Bond has endured as one of the better-remembered incarnations of the character, with the video games he lent his likeness to having perhaps helped cement that legacy. Pierce Brosnan followed up his first outing as 007 with three sequels of varying quality, with Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, and Die Another Day failing to live up to the promise of GoldenEye. Everything Or Nothing Gave Pierce Brosnan's Bond A Sequel Worthy Of GoldenEye It's certainly a great game, but there are arguably more authentic and compelling uses of the Bond license in the gaming medium, with Everything or Nothing the strongest example. Related: James Bond's Worst Video Games Ever, ExplainedĪlthough GoldenEye 007 is very much an icon of the Nintendo 64 and one of the most influential first-person shooters ever made, its reputation has overshadowed some of the stronger James Bond video games that were released in the years afterward. EA published Bond games with unique storylines before and after Everything or Nothing, but none were able to match the game's cinematic presentation, nor its varied approach to gameplay. Throw in a near ludicrous amount of action set-pieces for players to partake in, as well as some neat stealth and driving mechanics, and you're left with one of the best James Bond video games to date. It had its own killer theme song sung by Mýa, for starters, and featured Willem Dafoe in the role of the story's principal antagonist. Released during EA's tenure with the Bond license, Everything or Nothing was a third-person shooter that told its own completely unique Bond story, featuring the return of beloved characters from the series' past, as well as the likeness of Pierce Brosnan and other A-list talents.īrosnan was unfortunate not to receive a sequel worthy of his debut Bond flick, GoldenEye, during his time as 007, but Everything or Nothing comes mightily close. Even though GoldenEye 007 is widely considered to be the best James Bond game ever released, James Bond 007: Everything or Nothingis secretly better. The mind boggles at the thought of these lost billions, which the stressed taxpayer will have to fund.įrom the figures, we can see that approximately £5.9 billion went on consultancy fees (2,239 people at £1,100 per day for a year) £7 billion on 600 contracts with more than 200 organisations £372 million on agency and contractor staff £52 million on permanent and seconded staff and £3.1 billion for laboratory capacity. SIR – We at last have some insight into the monstrous £37 billion cost of the failed Test and Trace system ( report, October 27). SIR – You state that the price of a pint of Stella Artois is £3.80 ( report, October 28).Īpart from in Wetherspoons, you would be hard-pushed to find a pint for less than £4.50 in Surrey. This is due to return to 20 per cent next April, adding just over 3p to the average price of a pint (and more in London where prices are higher), cancelling out any savings the Budget might have enabled. In addition, the retail price of beer currently benefits from the temporary reduction of VAT to 12.5 per cent. SIR – The much vaunted reduction in draught beer duty is not all it seems.įirst, since it applies only to barrels with a volume of over 40 litres, a lot of small breweries – which supply their beer in 20-litre or 30-litre barrels – will not benefit. People don’t drink wine primarily for the alcohol it is variety of taste that matters. It is absurd to let prosecco (11 per cent) off lightly and punish rioja (13.5 per cent): they are simply different styles. Wine is a natural product, whether a moselle (7.5 per cent) or a zinfandel from California (15 per cent), and the alcohol comes from differing sugar levels. SIR – How very unintelligent is the revised taxation of wine on the basis of alcohol content. Having spent much of my working life flying in and out of European and other airports, I can tell him that most people will probably pay the extra tax to save themselves the trouble. SIR – Lord Blunkett ( Letters, October 28) suggests that the tax changes to flights will encourage long-haul travellers to break their journey at a Continental airport. SIR – I am sure that most Conservative voters want the Government to keep taxes as low as possible – but not at the expense of good public services, the levelling-up agenda, infrastructure, education and training, housing construction and, of course, proper care for the sick and elderly. The icing on the cake will be if the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee implements inflationary interest-rate rises. Pumping seemingly infinite monies into a Covid-stressed economy to chase finite goods and services can only result in rapid inflation. SIR – As a businessman and economist of 40 years’ standing, I’m speechless at the Treasury’s ineptitude. Who does a traditional Tory supporter vote for now? It seems that, since Britain caught Covid, we have lived in a parallel universe with the Labour Party running the country. I’m therefore frustrated by the approach that Mr Johnson and Rishi Sunak have taken, as demonstrated by Wednesday’s Budget. As a free-market capitalist, I was looking forward to small government. SIR – I was chuffed when Boris Johnson won a decent majority in 2019. |
